Before you convert

Exact mode rasterizes pages and embeds them in SVG. Large multi-page documents can take longer to process.

Export PDF pages without confusing appearance with editability

A PDF page can combine text, vector drawings, and photographs. This tool exports one SVG per requested page. Its default exact mode renders the page at the selected DPI, then places the resulting image inside SVG; it does not extract the PDF’s original text objects and drawing paths.

Choose exact mode when a page image in an SVG container suits your workflow. Experimental vector mode traces the rendered page and can simplify text or photos. Neither mode should be treated as a document editor, OCR system, or a promise to recover the original page structure.

Useful situations

  • Prepare an SVG-contained page image for an illustration or layout workflow.
  • Export a single diagram page without processing an entire long document.
  • Compare a traced version of a simple flat diagram against an exact-mode page image.

How to use PDF to SVG

  1. Choose the PDF and select Convert all pages, or enter the specific 1-based page number you need.
  2. Start with exact mode and 300 DPI. Lower DPI can reduce detail and processing cost; higher DPI creates more pixels and can require more memory.
  3. Convert and review each returned page, especially small text, thin lines, and scanned content.
  4. Download successful pages individually or use the multiple-download action. Your browser may request permission for several downloads.

What to expect

  • Exact mode keeps page content as pixels in SVG; text is not made selectable or editable by this conversion.
  • Increasing DPI improves sampling of content that can render at that resolution, but cannot restore detail missing from a low-resolution scan.
  • Many pages at high DPI can take longer and produce large responses. Prefer a specific page when you do not need the whole document.

Frequently asked questions

Will PDF to SVG preserve editable PDF text?

Not in this implementation. Exact mode embeds a rendered page image, and experimental vector mode traces shapes rather than preserving the original text objects or reading order.

Which DPI should I choose for PDF page export?

300 DPI is the starting setting. Inspect the result at its intended display size. Increase DPI only when the extra pixels are useful; doubling DPI roughly quadruples the number of rendered pixels for the same page dimensions.

Does each PDF page get a separate SVG file?

Yes. A successful page produces its own result and filename. A specific-page request uses the original page number. If processing fails, the current gateway may return a request-level error rather than usable page results; retry a smaller selection.
