Position

Before you convert

Numbers are stamped as text overlays; existing content near the edges may be overlapped.

Add consistent numbering to every PDF page

Page Numbers stamps a formatted number on each page — pick a corner or edge position, a format like “Page {n} of {total}”, and a starting number.

The {n} and {total} placeholders are replaced per page. A non-zero start is useful when the PDF will be appended after other documents.

Useful situations

  • Number a compiled report before submission.
  • Continue numbering across a multi-part document set.
  • Add page references to scanned paperwork.

How to use Add Page Numbers

  1. Select a PDF within the size limit.
  2. Choose a position and a format using {n} and {total}.
  3. Set a start number if it should not begin at 1, then convert.

What to expect

  • Numbers stamp on top of content — pick a position that avoids page text.
  • Formatting uses {n} for the page number and {total} for the page count.
  • Existing headers or footers near the edge may be overlapped.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start numbering at 10 instead of 1?

Set the start field to 10 — the first page prints as page 10 and continues from there.

Can I show “Page 3 of 20” style numbers?

Yes — the default format “Page {n} of {total}” does exactly that. Change the text around the placeholders as needed.

The numbers overlap my document text — what now?

Choose a different position — a corner instead of center, or top instead of bottom — to find an empty area of the page.
