Before you convert
Conversion relies on LibreOffice rendering; fonts missing from the server may change the layout.
Freeze a Word document into a stable PDF
Word to PDF renders a DOC or DOCX into a fixed-layout PDF that looks the same on every device — the standard way to share documents that should not be edited or reflowed.
Rendering runs through the server document engine. Fonts not installed there are substituted, so unusual typefaces can shift spacing slightly; standard fonts convert predictably.
Useful situations
- Send a resume, invoice, or report that must look identical everywhere.
- Publish a document that recipients should not edit.
- Meet a PDF-only submission requirement.
How to use Word to PDF
- Select a DOC or DOCX within the size limit.
- Convert — the server renders the document pages as PDF.
- Download and skim the pages for font or layout differences.
What to expect
- Comments, tracked changes, and macros do not carry into the PDF.
- Missing fonts are substituted and can alter line breaks.
- The PDF is a snapshot — keep the DOCX if further editing is planned.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my fonts change in the PDF?
The renderer substitutes fonts not installed on the conversion server. Common fonts convert reliably; custom typefaces should be embedded in the source or expected to shift.
Does Word to PDF keep hyperlinks?
Links in the document are generally preserved as clickable annotations, but always test critical links in the converted file.
Can the recipient convert the PDF back to Word?
They could use a PDF to Word tool, but reconstruction is imperfect. If you want the file edited, share the DOCX directly instead.
