Before you convert
Works on PDFs with a real text layer only. Scanned documents and text drawn as curves cannot be edited.
Swap text inside a PDF without re-editing the source
Replace Text finds a word or phrase in a PDF’s real text layer and substitutes new text — useful for quick corrections, date updates, or name changes.
This only works where text exists as actual characters. Scanned documents, outlines, and text drawn as curves have nothing to replace — converting to Word first is the better route for heavy edits.
Useful situations
- Fix a typo or wrong date in a finished document.
- Update a name or reference across all pages.
- Produce a variant of a template PDF with different wording.
How to use Replace PDF Text
- Select a PDF within the size limit.
- Enter the text to find and its replacement; optionally limit to one page.
- Convert and verify the substitution rendered correctly.
What to expect
- Replacement is literal — case and exact wording must match the stored text.
- Longer replacements can overflow the original text’s space.
- Scanned or outlined text is invisible to the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my text not replaced?
The search is exact — check capitalization, spacing, and that the PDF has a real text layer. Scanned pages cannot be edited this way.
Can I replace text on just one page?
Yes — set the page field to limit replacement to that page. Leave it empty to replace across the whole document.
Does the layout adjust if the new text is longer?
No — the replacement occupies roughly the same position. Longer text may clip or overlap neighbors, so keep substitutions similar in length.
