Before you convert
Scanned or complex layouts may not reconstruct perfectly. Editable output works best on text-based PDFs.
Make a PDF editable again as a Word document
PDF to Word reconstructs document content — text, images, and basic layout — into a DOCX file you can edit in Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs.
Results depend on the source: PDFs with a real text layer convert well, while scanned pages produce images inside the DOCX rather than editable text. Complex layouts with overlapping columns may need manual cleanup.
Useful situations
- Edit a contract or report you only have as PDF.
- Repurpose PDF content into a new document.
- Fix typos or update dates in a file whose source was lost.
How to use PDF to Word
- Select a PDF within the size limit.
- Convert — the service reconstructs the document as DOCX.
- Open the result in a word processor and review layout fidelity.
What to expect
- Columns, headers, and floating elements may reflow or reposition.
- Scanned PDFs yield page images, not editable text — OCR is a separate step.
- Fonts on the PDF that are not installed locally will be substituted.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the Word document look different from the PDF?
PDF stores positioned content, not a flowing document structure. Reconstruction infers paragraphs and columns, and complex designs cannot always map back cleanly.
Can I edit a scanned PDF after converting to Word?
Only the page images move into the DOCX — the text inside them stays a picture. You would need OCR to make that text editable.
Does PDF to Word preserve tables?
Simple tables usually convert into real Word tables. Tables built from drawn lines or images may arrive as pictures instead.
