Re-renders at 512×512px. Maximum 4096px per side. The ratio lock uses the current width and height, not the uploaded SVG's intrinsic ratio; size presets reset it. At size limits the ratio may change. SVG preserveAspectRatio rules can add empty space.

Before you convert

Final dimensions are capped at 4096 pixels per side. Font availability and unsupported SVG features can affect rendering.

Render SVG artwork onto a pixel canvas

SVG describes shapes, text, and other drawing instructions. PNG stores the rendered result as pixels. SVG to PNG is useful when a destination cannot display SVG or when you need an image with fixed dimensions.

Choose the canvas size for the destination first, then choose an export scale. A 512 × 512 canvas at 2× requests 1024 × 1024 pixels. Each final side is capped at 4096 pixels, so increasing scale near that limit may not produce the multiplication you expect.

Useful situations

  • Create a fixed-size PNG for a presentation, document, or application that does not accept SVG.
  • Export a transparent icon for use over different background colors.
  • Prepare a higher-density raster asset for a known display size, while keeping the SVG source for future exports.

How to use SVG to PNG

  1. Select your SVG and set width and height between 32 and 4096 pixels, or start from a square size preset.
  2. Use the ratio lock to keep the current numeric width-to-height ratio while editing dimensions; it does not detect the source artwork ratio.
  3. Choose Transparent or White for a fitted canvas, or No BG for the engine’s fill-canvas mode, which may change proportions. Select 1×, 2×, or 3× scale.
  4. Convert, inspect empty space, text, and edge sharpness, then download the PNG at the reported output size.

What to expect

  • Transparent and white canvas modes aim to fit and center the artwork; a different canvas ratio can leave empty space.
  • PNG preserves the rendered pixel values without JPEG-style lossy compression, but it no longer contains editable vector paths.
  • Fonts, external resources, filters, and embedded raster images can affect rendering. Larger output dimensions cannot restore missing source detail.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there padding around my SVG-to-PNG export?

The artwork or its viewBox may contain empty space, or the requested canvas may have a different aspect ratio. Match the canvas ratio to the artwork and inspect the source viewBox before using a fill-canvas mode.

Does 3× SVG export always create three times the width?

Only within the 4096-pixel-per-side cap. For example, 2048 pixels at 3× would exceed that cap and the final side is limited to 4096 pixels.

Will the PNG still have a transparent background?

Transparent mode keeps alpha where the source is transparent. White mode fills transparent areas with white. A white shape drawn inside the SVG remains white even when Transparent is selected.
