Exact mode exports a rendered page, not the original PDF objects
A PDF can mix text objects, vector drawings, and raster scans. This converter’s exact mode renders each selected page to an image, then embeds that image inside an SVG. It is designed for a page-image workflow, not for extracting text objects, recovering fonts, or keeping every drawing editable.
The result can look similar to the page while containing no selectable text. Experimental vector mode traces the rendered page instead. It may produce editable shapes, but text can become approximated outlines rather than text characters, and photographic detail can change.
DPI determines the sampling density of the page image
At 300 DPI, a US Letter page measuring 8.5 × 11 inches is approximately 2550 × 3300 pixels before any other rendering adjustments. At 150 DPI, the same page is approximately 1275 × 1650 pixels. The default 300 DPI setting is a useful starting point, not a requirement for every task.
Doubling DPI doubles each pixel dimension and roughly quadruples pixel count. That can increase processing time, memory use, and output size. It does not imply an exact fourfold increase in compressed file size.
More DPI cannot repair a low-resolution scan
Vector drawings and text can be sampled at a higher resolution when rendered. A scanned page is already a raster image, so a higher DPI export may mostly resample existing pixels. Inspect the source for readable detail before choosing a larger output.
For screen display, judge the page at the size it will be shown. For a print workflow, confirm the requirements with the destination rather than assuming an SVG wrapper preserves all original print properties.
Choose pages and inspect downloads deliberately
Use a specific 1-based page number when only one diagram or page is needed. All-pages conversion is convenient for short documents, but long files at high DPI can exceed practical processing limits. Returned successful pages can be downloaded separately; multiple downloads may require browser permission.
If the gateway returns a request-level error, successful pages may not be returned at all. Try a single page or smaller document. If your goal is selectable text, document reflow, or original drawing objects, use a document-editing or extraction workflow instead of this image-based conversion.
- Choose exact mode for a rendered page inside SVG.
- Use experimental vector mode only when simplified tracing is acceptable.
- Start at 300 DPI and adjust after inspecting the result.
- Keep the original PDF for text search, accessibility, and future editing.
